Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an OS command injection weakness in the dbcli mycli tool versions up to 2.29.4 or 2.30.1. It exists in the source_special_command_is_safe function within the mycli/packages/special/source.py file. Attackers can exploit this to execute arbitrary OS commands on the local host.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to run unauthorized commands on your system, potentially stealing data, installing malware, or escalating privileges. Since it requires local access, users with mycli installed should update immediately to avoid risks.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade mycli to a version beyond 2.30.1 to address the command injection flaw in the source_special_command_is_safe function. If upgrading is not possible, avoid using the affected functionality or restrict access to the system.
