Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a memory corruption issue in libimobiledevice versions up to 1.4.0. It occurs in the function afc_get_device_info_key within the file src/afc.c, specifically when the argument Value is manipulated. This manipulation leads to memory corruption, which can be exploited by a local attacker.

Impact Analysis

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to corrupt memory, potentially leading to crashes, data corruption, or unauthorized code execution on the affected system. Since the exploit is publicly available, the risk of real-world attacks is increased.

Mitigation Strategies

Update libimobiledevice to a version beyond 1.4.0 if available. If no update exists, consider disabling or restricting access to the affected component (src/afc.c) until a patch is released.
