Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects the Premium Packages WordPress plugin versions below 7.2.2. It allows unauthenticated users to change the price of items in their shopping cart, letting them create orders for any product at a custom total.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your WordPress site uses the Premium Packages plugin version below 7.2.2. Inspect the plugin files for missing access control checks in cart functionality. Monitor for unusual order totals or unauthorized price changes in transaction logs.

Impact Analysis

Unauthenticated attackers could exploit this to pay less than the actual price for products, leading to financial losses for the website owner. It undermines trust in the payment system and could result in fraudulent transactions.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the Premium Packages plugin to version 7.2.2 or later. If updating is not possible, disable the plugin temporarily until an update is applied. Review recent orders for suspicious price manipulations and implement additional access controls on cart operations.
