Executive Summary

The All-in-One Video Gallery WordPress plugin before version 5.0.0 has a flaw where it does not check if a video is published before showing it on the player page. This allows unauthenticated users to view private, draft, pending, scheduled, or trashed videos by entering their IDs. The vulnerability exposes video titles and source URLs.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if the All-in-One Video Gallery plugin version is below 5.0.0. You can use WordPress admin panel or run commands like 'wp plugin list' in the WordPress directory to verify the installed version.

Impact Analysis

Unauthenticated users could access sensitive video content that was meant to be private, such as unpublished drafts or restricted videos. This could lead to unauthorized disclosure of information contained in those videos or their metadata.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability may expose private video content, including titles and source URLs, to unauthorized users. For GDPR, this could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, violating principles of data protection and user consent. Under HIPAA, if the videos contain protected health information, this disclosure could result in breaches of confidentiality requirements.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the All-in-One Video Gallery plugin to version 5.0.0 or later to patch the vulnerability. If updating is not possible, consider disabling the plugin temporarily until an update is applied.
