Description

The Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'szbd-picked' checkout parameter in versions up to, and including, 3.3.0 The szbd_checkout_field_update_order_meta() handler stores stripslashes(sanitize_text_field($_POST['szbd-picked'])) in order meta without validating the JSON structure or restricting dangerous characters, and the szbd_show_checkout_field_admin_order_meta() handler later concatenates the decoded lat and lng values directly into a double-quoted href attribute without esc_url() or esc_attr(). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers, by submitting an ordinary guest-checkout order with a crafted szbd-picked JSON payload, to inject arbitrary attributes (such as onmouseover) onto the Google Maps link in the WooCommerce admin order view that will execute whenever an administrator accesses an injected order.

Executive Summary

This is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce plugin. It allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts via the 'szbd-picked' checkout parameter during guest checkout. The plugin stores user input without proper validation and later renders it unsafely in admin order views, enabling script execution when an administrator views the order.

Detection Guidance

Check for unauthorized orders with crafted szbd-picked JSON payloads in WooCommerce order meta. Review admin order views for suspicious Google Maps links with injected attributes like onmouseover. Inspect order meta data for unvalidated JSON stored in szbd-picked fields.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to steal sensitive admin session cookies, perform actions on behalf of administrators, or deface the WooCommerce store. Attackers could trick administrators into clicking malicious links that execute arbitrary JavaScript in their browser context.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection. If exploited, it may result in data breaches, unauthorized modifications, or disclosure of sensitive customer information, potentially leading to regulatory penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce plugin to the latest version. Disable guest checkout if possible or restrict szbd-picked parameter input. Monitor orders for suspicious activity and review admin order pages for injected scripts.
