Description

Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in FacturaScripts, version 2025.61, caused by a lack of adequate validation or sanitisation of user input in the ‘city’ and ‘province’ fields in the ‘ListAlmacen’ endpoint. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript code in the victim’s browser (the application user) or to escalate privileges from a normal user to an administrator by executing specially crafted JavaScript code, thereby compromising the system’s confidentiality or hijacking the session (even with httpOnly cookies by extracting CSRF tokens).

Executive Summary

This is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in FacturaScripts version 2025.61. It occurs because user input in the 'city' and 'province' fields of the 'ListAlmacen' endpoint is not properly validated or sanitized. An attacker can inject malicious JavaScript code that gets stored on the server and executed in the browsers of other users.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, inspect user input fields 'city' and 'province' in the 'ListAlmacen' endpoint for stored XSS payloads. Check server logs for unusual JavaScript code submissions. Use browser developer tools to monitor network requests for suspicious payloads in responses.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run arbitrary JavaScript in your browser. This could lead to session hijacking, theft of sensitive data, or privilege escalation from a regular user to an administrator account. Even with httpOnly cookies, attackers could extract CSRF tokens to perform unauthorized actions.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA compliance requirements. It may result in data breaches, loss of confidentiality, and failure to meet regulatory obligations for protecting user information.

Mitigation Strategies

Update FacturaScripts to the latest version where the vulnerability is patched. Implement strict input validation and output encoding for 'city' and 'province' fields. Sanitize user inputs to remove or neutralize JavaScript code before storage.
