Executive Summary

CVE-2026-120205 is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Thelia, an open-source e-commerce platform. It allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts by registering with a script payload as their customer name. When administrators view related coupons, the injected script executes, potentially stealing CSRF tokens to create administrator accounts.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, inspect Thelia installations for versions before 3.1.0. Check coupon condition summaries in the admin panel for unescaped customer names. Review server logs for GET requests to /admin/coupon/draw/conditionsSummaries/{couponId} with unexpected payloads.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain full administrative access to the Thelia platform, allowing them to create super-admin accounts, access customer data, view order details, and modify shop settings. This could lead to complete account takeover and compromise of sensitive information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal and sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA compliance. It may result in data breaches, unauthorized processing of personal data, and failure to protect patient or customer information, leading to legal penalties and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Thelia to version 3.1.0 or later immediately. If upgrading is not possible, apply the patch from the commit c90d59375089a0833a56703c6f9f9ddea17bddc9 to sanitize customer names in coupon summaries.
