Description

The Meow Gallery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 5.5.4 This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. Executive Summary

The Meow Gallery WordPress plugin up to version 5.5.4 has an authorization bypass flaw. It fails to verify user permissions properly, allowing authenticated attackers with author-level access or higher to read metadata of all private and draft posts on the site, including those created by other users.

Impact Analysis

Attackers could access sensitive post metadata such as post IDs, titles, dates, authors, and statuses. This exposes private or unpublished content details, potentially leading to information leaks or further exploitation of site content.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Meow Gallery plugin to the latest version beyond 5.5.4 to address the authorization bypass vulnerability. If an update is not available, consider disabling or removing the plugin until a patch is released.
