Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an authorization bypass in FUXA version 1.3.2-2809. It allows unauthenticated HTTP requests to execute arbitrary code due to improper authorization in the /nodered functionality. Attackers can bypass authentication by obtaining a guest JWT token via the /api/heartbeat endpoint, which issues tokens to unauthenticated users.

Detection Guidance

Check if FUXA version 1.3.2-2809 is installed by running commands like 'dpkg -l | grep fuxa' on Linux or checking installed programs on Windows. Monitor HTTP requests to /nodered or /api/heartbeat endpoints for unauthenticated access attempts. Look for suspicious Node-RED flows deployed without proper authorization.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the affected device without authentication. They can deploy malicious flows in Node-RED deployments, potentially leading to full system compromise, data theft, or further network infiltration.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access and data breaches, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and access control. Non-compliance may result in legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade FUXA to version 1.3.3 or later immediately. Block unauthenticated access to /nodered and /api/heartbeat endpoints using firewall rules. Disable guest JWT token issuance if possible. Restrict network access to FUXA instances to trusted IPs only.
