Executive Summary

This vulnerability in Devika v1.0 involves a path traversal flaw in the Patcher Agent's save_code_to_project function. It allows attackers to write files outside the intended project workspace by manipulating file paths.

Detection Guidance

I don't know

Check Devika v1.0 logs for unusual file write operations outside project directories. Inspect paths used in save_code_to_project function calls for traversal attempts like '../' or absolute paths.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to overwrite critical system files, inject malicious code, or access sensitive data stored outside the project directory. This could lead to system compromise or data breaches depending on the application's context.

Compliance Impact

The vulnerability allows attackers to write files outside the intended project workspace, which could lead to unauthorized access or modification of sensitive data. This may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) by exposing or altering protected data without authorization.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Devika to the latest version if a patch is available. Restrict file write permissions to only the intended project workspace. Monitor file system changes in Devika directories.
