Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an authorization bypass in deeptutor version 1.4.0. It allows a remote attacker to manipulate session regeneration by providing a user-controlled object identifier in the TurnRuntimeManager.regenerate_last_turn function. This could let the attacker access or interfere with another user's session.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability involves an authorization bypass in deeptutor 1.4.0 through a user-controlled object identifier. Detection requires inspecting network traffic for requests to TurnRuntimeManager.regenerate_last_turn with manipulated session identifiers. Monitor logs for unusual session regeneration events or unauthorized access patterns.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to take over another user's session, potentially accessing sensitive data or performing actions on their behalf. This could lead to unauthorized access to personal or confidential information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate compliance requirements under GDPR and HIPAA by enabling unauthorized access to personal data. GDPR requires protecting user data, while HIPAA mandates safeguarding protected health information. A breach could result in legal penalties and loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Update deeptutor to a version that patches the authorization bypass in TurnRuntimeManager.regenerate_last_turn. If no patch is available, disable the affected functionality or restrict network access to the vulnerable component.
