Executive Summary

This is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the SABBATIC application. It allows an attacker to inject malicious JavaScript code into the 'companyName' parameter of the /empresa endpoint. When other users view the affected page, the injected code executes in their browsers.

Detection Guidance

To detect this Stored XSS vulnerability in the SABBATIC application, inspect the 'companyName' parameter in the /empresa endpoint for improper input validation. Check if user-supplied data is reflected in the page without sanitization. Use browser developer tools to examine network requests and responses for stored malicious scripts.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal user session cookies, redirect users to malicious sites, or perform actions on behalf of users. This could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data or account takeover if users interact with the compromised page.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to data breaches, violating GDPR's integrity and confidentiality principles or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations may face fines or penalties for failing to protect user data adequately.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately apply input validation and output encoding to the 'companyName' parameter in the /empresa endpoint. Sanitize all user inputs to prevent script execution. Update the application to the latest patched version if available. Monitor for any signs of exploitation in logs.
