Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a command injection flaw in the WolfProt interface implementation. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access to execute operating-system commands on the vulnerable service with the privileges of the affected application.

Detection Guidance

Check for WolfVision Cynap devices on your network using network scanning tools like nmap to identify affected versions. Inspect logs for unusual command execution patterns or unauthorized system access attempts. Test input fields in the WolfProt interface for command injection by sending benign payloads like '; whoami' or '&& whoami' and monitor responses.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to take control of the affected system, steal data, install malware, or disrupt services. The high CVSS scores indicate severe impact including complete system compromise.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and confidentiality. Organizations may face compliance penalties if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Isolate affected WolfVision Cynap devices from critical network segments. Apply vendor patches or updates immediately if available. Restrict network access to these devices using firewalls or VLANs. Monitor for suspicious activity and review access logs regularly.
