Executive Summary

This is a session fixation vulnerability in Omnispace Agora Project before version 26.10.0. Attackers can hijack authenticated sessions by planting a known session identifier in a victim's browser before they log in. The application fails to regenerate the session ID after authentication, allowing unauthorized access to the victim's session once they log in.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor network traffic for session fixation attempts. Check if session IDs remain static before and after login. Use tools like Burp Suite or OWASP ZAP to intercept and analyze session tokens. Inspect server logs for repeated session IDs across authentication states.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain unauthorized access to your authenticated session, potentially allowing them to perform actions on your behalf, access sensitive data, or take control of your account without your knowledge.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR's data protection requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Omnispace Agora Project to version 26.10.0 or later. Ensure session IDs are regenerated after login. Implement secure session management practices, such as invalidating old sessions and using random, unpredictable session tokens.
