Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Routinator, a tool for validating RPKI data. When Routinator processes a Certificate Revocation List (CRL) with an excessive number of entries, it may freeze or consume too much memory. Additionally, if the CRL file has incorrect encoding, Routinator may crash entirely.

Detection Guidance

Check Routinator version with 'routinator --version'. If it is 0.15.2 or lower, the system is vulnerable. Monitor for hangs or crashes when processing CRL files.

Impact Analysis

If you use Routinator, this flaw could cause service disruptions by making the tool unresponsive or crashing it. This may lead to delays in RPKI validation, affecting the security and availability of your routing infrastructure.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Routinator to version 0.15.3 or later immediately. Remove or restrict access to malformed CRL files to prevent triggering the issue.
