Executive Summary

This is a DOM-based Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Adobe Experience Manager. An attacker can manipulate the DOM to execute malicious JavaScript in a victim's browser. The victim must visit a specially crafted webpage for exploitation to occur.

Detection Guidance

Detection of this DOM-based XSS vulnerability typically involves inspecting web application code for improper handling of user input in the DOM. Use browser developer tools to monitor DOM changes and look for suspicious JavaScript execution. No specific commands are provided in the context.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal sensitive data like session cookies, redirect users to malicious sites, or perform actions on behalf of the user. It requires user interaction, meaning a victim must click a malicious link or visit a compromised page.

Compliance Impact

This DOM-based XSS vulnerability could potentially lead to unauthorized data access or manipulation, which may impact compliance with GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (healthcare data privacy) if sensitive user data is compromised. Exploitation requires user interaction, such as visiting a malicious webpage.

Mitigation Strategies
