Server-Side Request Forgery in FV Flowplayer Video Player

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-85345, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-14

Last updated on: 2026-10-14

Assigner: WPScan

Description

The FV Flowplayer Video Player WordPress plugin before 7.5.55.7212 does not properly validate a user-supplied URL before performing a server-side fetch, and an existing host-based restriction fails to cover all cases, allowing users with Contributor-level access and above to perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) attacks. The impact is limited to a semi-blind oracle: the server's fetch reveals whether an internal resource responds and its HTTP status, but the resource's contents are not returned to the attacker.

Executive Summary

This is a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the FV Flowplayer Video Player WordPress plugin. It occurs because the plugin does not properly validate user-supplied URLs before fetching them server-side. Users with Contributor-level access or higher can exploit this to make the server send requests to internal resources.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your FV Flowplayer Video Player plugin version is between 7.5.44.7212 and 7.5.54.7212. Use WordPress admin to view the plugin version or run a command like 'wp plugin list --name=fv-player' if using WP-CLI.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could use this to probe internal network resources, potentially revealing whether internal services are running or their HTTP status codes. This could aid in further attacks but does not expose the actual content of internal resources.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR and HIPAA by enabling unauthorized SSRF attacks. SSRF may allow attackers to probe internal systems, which could lead to data exposure or unauthorized access to sensitive resources. However, the semi-blind nature of this SSRF limits direct data theft, reducing but not eliminating compliance risks.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the FV Flowplayer Video Player plugin to version 7.5.55.7212 or later to patch the SSRF vulnerability.
