Executive Summary

This is an OS Command Injection vulnerability in Dell PowerProtect Data Domain versions between 7.7.1.0-8.8, LTS2024 7.13.1.0-7.13.1.80, LTS2025 8.3.1.0-8.3.1.40, and LTS2026 8.6.1.0-8.6.1.20. A high privileged remote attacker could execute arbitrary commands on the system.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking Dell PowerProtect Data Domain versions against affected releases (7.7.1.0-8.8, 7.13.1.0-7.13.1.80, 8.3.1.0-8.3.1.40, 8.6.1.0-8.6.1.20). Use Dell's official tools or CLI commands like 'show version' to verify installed versions.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain control of the affected system, steal data, disrupt operations, or install malware. Since it requires high privileges, the risk is significant if credentials are compromised.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply Dell's official patches or updates for the affected versions. Restrict remote access to high-privileged accounts only. Monitor network traffic for suspicious commands or unusual activity.
