CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This is a SQL injection vulnerability in the LTL Freight Quotes WordPress plugin. It affects versions 4.2.11 to 4.2.18 and occurs because the 'edit_id' parameter in the Shipping Rule functionality is not properly sanitized or escaped before being used in a SQL query. This allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious SQL commands.

Detection Guidance

Check if the LTL Freight Quotes WordPress plugin version is between 4.2.11 and 4.2.18. Use commands like 'wp plugin list' in WordPress CLI or inspect the plugin files for version details in /wp-content/plugins/ltl-freight-quotes/

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to access, modify, or delete sensitive data in the plugin's database, such as user credentials, shipping rules, or other confidential information. Since no authentication is required, any visitor to the site could potentially exploit this flaw.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or exposure of personal data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection. Organizations using the affected plugin may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the LTL Freight Quotes plugin to version 4.2.19 or later immediately. Remove or disable the plugin if updating is not possible. Monitor database access logs for suspicious SQL queries.
