Executive Summary

The PAYCOMET for WooCommerce WordPress plugin before version 5.46 has a flaw where it does not check cryptographic signatures on its payment notification endpoint during tokenization operations. This allows unauthenticated attackers to overwrite stored payment tokens linked to existing orders and delete saved card records.

Detection Guidance

Check the installed version of the PAYCOMET for WooCommerce plugin. If it is between 5.36 and 5.45, the system is vulnerable. Use WordPress admin panel or run the command: wp plugin list --name=paycomet-for-woocommerce to verify the version.

Impact Analysis

Attackers could modify or delete stored payment tokens for your customers' orders without authentication. This could lead to unauthorized transactions, loss of payment data, or disruption of payment processing for existing orders.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate compliance requirements for data protection and payment security, such as GDPR (data integrity and security) and PCI DSS (payment card security). Unauthorized token modification or deletion may lead to non-compliance penalties and loss of customer trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the PAYCOMET for WooCommerce plugin to version 5.46 or later immediately. Disable the plugin temporarily if an update is not immediately available. Review stored payment tokens and orders for unauthorized changes.
