CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This is a critical SQL injection vulnerability in the WMS MobileServer, a component of the JTL-WMS ERP system. It allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the database server without authentication. The vulnerability arises because a request body parameter is directly inserted into a T-SQL statement without proper sanitization or parameterization.

Detection Guidance

Check if your JTL-WMS MobileServer version is between 1.7.0 and below 2.0.7, 2.1.3, or 2.2.1. Inspect network traffic for unusual SQL queries or database access patterns. Use tools like SQLMap to test for SQL injection vulnerabilities in the MobileServer endpoint.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to run malicious SQL commands, potentially gaining full control over the database server. Since the MobileServer connects with a highly privileged database account, this could lead to complete compromise of the database, data theft, or unauthorized modifications. Systems running vulnerable versions (1.7.0 to before 2.0.7, 2.1.3, and 2.2.1) are at risk.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or exposure of sensitive data, violating compliance requirements such as GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy). A successful exploit may result in data breaches, leading to legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade to JTL-WMS MobileServer versions 2.0.7, 2.1.3, or 2.2.1 if using affected versions. For older versions (1.7.0 to 1.11.x), upgrade to 2.0.7 or newer. Restrict network access to the MobileServer or disable it if unused until patched.
