Executive Summary

The Rede Itaú for WooCommerce WordPress plugin before version 5.5.3 has a flaw where it does not verify if a payment gateway webhook is legitimate before updating an order's status. This allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate WooCommerce orders by marking unpaid orders as paid or cancelling completed orders.

Detection Guidance

Check the installed version of the Rede Itaú for WooCommerce plugin. If it is between 3.7.1 and 5.5.2, the system is vulnerable. Use commands like 'wp plugin list' in WordPress or inspect the plugin directory for version details.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to fraudulently change order statuses without authentication. This could lead to financial losses if unpaid orders are marked as paid, or disrupt business operations if completed orders are cancelled.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized changes in order statuses, potentially causing financial discrepancies or data integrity issues. For GDPR, this may impact data accuracy and security requirements. For HIPAA, if order data includes protected health information, unauthorized modifications could violate integrity and access controls.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Rede Itaú for WooCommerce plugin to version 5.5.3 or later immediately. Disable the plugin if an update is not possible, and review WooCommerce order statuses for unauthorized changes.
