Executive Summary

The TrueBooker WordPress plugin before version 1.3.0 has a flaw where it does not check if a requester owns a booking before showing its confirmation summary. This allows unauthenticated attackers to guess booking IDs and access personal information of customers who made appointments. Attackers can also invalidate a customer's confirmation link.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if the TrueBooker WordPress plugin version is below 1.3.0. Inspect network traffic for unauthenticated requests to booking confirmation endpoints that expose personal data. Look for repeated requests to booking IDs to identify enumeration attempts.

Impact Analysis

If you use the TrueBooker plugin before 1.3.0, attackers could steal customer appointment details like names or contact info by guessing booking IDs. Your customers' data may be exposed, and their booking confirmations could be disrupted.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, violating GDPR's data protection principles and potentially HIPAA's privacy rules if health-related appointments are involved. Organizations may face compliance breaches and legal penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the TrueBooker plugin to version 1.3.0 or later immediately. Review server logs for suspicious activity related to booking ID enumeration. Implement access controls to restrict unauthenticated requests to sensitive endpoints.
