Executive Summary

The TrueBooker WordPress plugin before version 1.3.0 lacks proper authorization checks in certain AJAX actions. It also fails to validate service prices on the server side, allowing unauthenticated users to create bookings with custom prices and attach them to any customer account.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your TrueBooker plugin version is below 1.3.0. Inspect network traffic for unauthenticated AJAX requests to booking-related endpoints. Look for unusual booking creations with arbitrary pricing or customer account associations.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to create unauthorized bookings at manipulated prices, potentially leading to financial loss, service disruption, or misuse of customer accounts without their consent.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or financial transactions, violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (healthcare privacy) by exposing sensitive customer information or enabling fraudulent activities.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the TrueBooker WordPress plugin to version 1.3.0 or later to address the lack of authorization checks and price validation issues.
