Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a code injection flaw in IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.12.2. A remote authenticated attacker can exploit it to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the affected system by sending specially crafted input.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, inspect IBM Langflow OSS instances running versions 1.0.0 through 1.12.2 for unusual command execution patterns or unauthorized OS command invocations. Check logs for suspicious inputs that may indicate code injection attempts. No specific commands are provided in the available context.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain control over the server running Langflow, steal sensitive data, install malware, or disrupt services. Since it requires authentication, the attacker must first obtain valid credentials or exploit another vulnerability to gain access.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access and data breaches, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and security. Organizations may face fines, legal penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Update IBM Langflow OSS to the latest version beyond 1.12.2 to address the code injection vulnerability. Restrict network access to the application and implement strict input validation for user inputs.
