Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btintel_pcie: fix TX descriptor bounds check btintel_pcie_prepare_tx() uses tfd_index to access the TFD and data buffer arrays before the index is advanced modulo txq->count. An index equal to txq->count is one past the end of both arrays, so reject it in the bounds check.

Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to Bluetooth functionality. It involves a bounds check error in the btintel_pcie_prepare_tx() function where the code accesses an array using an index that is not properly validated before use. Specifically, the index tfd_index can reach txq->count, which is one position past the end of the TFD and data buffer arrays, potentially leading to out-of-bounds memory access.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow an attacker to cause memory corruption or execute arbitrary code in the kernel, leading to system crashes, privilege escalation, or unauthorized access. Since it affects Bluetooth functionality, it might be exploited via nearby network access if Bluetooth is enabled.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Linux kernel to the latest patched version to resolve the Bluetooth TX descriptor bounds check issue in btintel_pcie.
