Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects the BCK Auto-confirm Bank Transfer plugin for WooCommerce. It allows unauthenticated attackers to mark arbitrary WooCommerce orders as paid by exploiting improper verification of bank-transfer payment notifications. The flaw is due to broken access control, enabling unauthorized actions without proper authentication.

Detection Guidance

Check if the BCK Auto-confirm Bank Transfer plugin for WooCommerce version 2.0.1 or lower is installed. Look for unauthorized order status changes marked as paid without valid transactions.

Impact Analysis

Unauthenticated attackers could manipulate order statuses, leading to financial losses or fraudulent transactions. Businesses using the vulnerable plugin may process payments for unpaid orders, causing revenue and inventory discrepancies. Customer trust may also be compromised if orders are falsely marked as paid.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with financial and data protection regulations. Incorrect order statuses may violate transaction integrity requirements in standards like PCI DSS. For GDPR, unauthorized access or processing could risk data protection principles if customer data is involved.

Mitigation Strategies

Disable or uninstall the BCK Auto-confirm Bank Transfer plugin immediately. Monitor WooCommerce orders for suspicious activity and ensure no unauthorized changes to order statuses.
