Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects the WordPress plugin 'Car Dealer' versions up to 4.73. It allows unauthenticated attackers to access the title, content, and metadata of any private, draft, pending, future, or trashed posts by exploiting an unrestricted AJAX action called 'cardealer_single_car_ajax'.

Detection Guidance

Check if the WordPress plugin 'Car Dealer' is installed and its version is up to 4.73. Test the AJAX endpoint 'cardealer_single_car_ajax' by sending a request with a post ID to see if it returns sensitive data like titles, content, or metadata from private or draft posts.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability exposes sensitive data through a sensitive data disclosure issue. Attackers can read private or unpublished content, including metadata, which may contain confidential information such as draft posts, future posts, or trashed content.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other privacy regulations by exposing sensitive or personal data stored in private, draft, or unpublished posts. Unauthorized access to such data violates confidentiality requirements.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the 'Car Dealer' plugin to the latest version if an update is available. If no update exists, consider disabling the plugin until a patch is released. Restrict access to the AJAX endpoint by implementing proper authentication or input validation.
