Description

Clickjacking vulnerability in the Alosuite web application. The affected login interface can be embedded in a web page controlled by an attacker because it does not implement adequate user interface protection mechanisms, such as the X-Frame-Options header or an appropriate Content-Security-Policy (frame-ancestors) directive. By tricking a victim into interacting with a malicious web page, an attacker can trigger unwanted actions within the Alosuite application embedded in the frame, which could compromise the integrity of user interactions and facilitate further attacks against authenticated users.

Executive Summary

This is a clickjacking vulnerability in the Alosuite web application. The login interface can be embedded in a malicious webpage because it lacks proper UI protection like X-Frame-Options or Content-Security-Policy headers. Attackers can trick users into interacting with the embedded frame, leading to unauthorized actions.

Detection Guidance

To detect this clickjacking vulnerability, check if the Alosuite login interface lacks X-Frame-Options or Content-Security-Policy headers. Use browser developer tools to inspect HTTP response headers for missing protections. Commands like curl -I <target_URL> can verify header presence. Tools like OWASP ZAP or Burp Suite can automate detection by scanning for missing frame-busting headers.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could hijack user sessions by embedding the login page in a malicious site. Victims might unknowingly perform actions like changing passwords or granting permissions, leading to account compromise or further attacks.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability may violate data protection principles under GDPR and HIPAA by exposing user credentials or sensitive data through unauthorized interactions. Organizations could face compliance penalties for failing to implement adequate security controls.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately add X-Frame-Options: DENY or SAMEORIGIN to HTTP responses. Alternatively, implement Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors 'none' or 'self'. Update the Alosuite web server configuration to enforce these headers. Test changes using browser tools to confirm headers are applied correctly.
