Executive Summary

This is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Alosuite affecting the delivery note functionality. It allows JavaScript to be stored due to insufficient sanitization and encoding of fields. When other users view the affected records, the stored script executes in their browsers, potentially altering displayed content or performing actions within their session.

Detection Guidance

To detect this stored XSS vulnerability in Alosuite's delivery note functionality, inspect the ReferenceOtherParty parameter in the '/Documents/DeliveryNotes/Edit/{id}' endpoint for unsanitized user input. Check for JavaScript code or HTML tags in stored records viewed by other users. Manually review database entries or application logs for suspicious payloads like <script> tags or event handlers.

Impact Analysis

Exploitation requires authenticated access to the vulnerable functionality. If exploited, it can alter displayed content, perform unauthorized actions in the context of the victim's session, and potentially lead to session hijacking or data theft. The impact depends on user privileges and the actions the attacker can perform.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR and HIPAA by enabling unauthorized script execution in user browsers. Stored XSS may allow attackers to manipulate displayed content or perform actions within a victim's session, which could lead to data breaches or unauthorized access to sensitive information. However, specific compliance impacts depend on the system's use case and data handling practices.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately apply input validation and output encoding to the ReferenceOtherParty field in the delivery note functionality. Ensure all user-supplied data is sanitized before storage and rendered safely in browsers. Restrict authenticated access to the affected endpoint if possible. Monitor for unusual activity in the delivery note records.
