Description

Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 contains a SQL injection vulnerability in the optional "Reindex Search Tables By Pattern" task. CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-113370 is a SQL injection vulnerability in Sonatype Nexus Repository 3. It exists in the optional 'Reindex Search Tables By Pattern' task. A user with the nexus:tasks:create privilege can inject a crafted filter condition that executes as SQL, potentially modifying data in the Nexus database.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if the 'Reindex Search Tables By Pattern' task is enabled by verifying the setting nexus.reindex.search.by.pattern.visible=true. Review user privileges for nexus:tasks:create and inspect database logs for unusual SQL queries or modifications.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows an authenticated user with specific privileges to execute arbitrary SQL commands. This could lead to unauthorized data modification, data theft, or disruption of service in the Nexus Repository. Exploitation requires valid credentials and the nexus:tasks:create privilege.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, which may violate compliance requirements such as GDPR (data integrity and confidentiality) or HIPAA (protected health information integrity). Unauthorized changes could result in regulatory penalties or loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade to Nexus Repository version 3.98.0 or later. Disable the 'Reindex Search Tables By Pattern' task by setting nexus.reindex.search.by.pattern.visible=false. Restrict the nexus:tasks:create privilege to trusted administrators only.
