Executive Summary

The AZEXO Store Locator WordPress plugin through version 1.4 lacks proper authorization checks when deleting posts. This allows any authenticated user, including low-privilege users like subscribers, to delete arbitrary posts and pages without permission.

Detection Guidance

Check if the AZEXO Store Locator plugin version 1.4 or below is installed. Look for unauthorized post or page deletions in WordPress logs or activity monitors. Test if an authenticated user can delete posts via the azt_delete_item function.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to delete important posts, pages, or content on your WordPress site, potentially causing data loss, disrupting operations, or damaging your website's functionality and reputation.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the AZEXO Store Locator plugin to the latest version if available. If no update exists, consider disabling the plugin until a patch is released. Restrict user roles to prevent subscribers from deleting posts.
