Executive Summary

The Premium Packages WordPress plugin before version 7.3.1 has an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability. This flaw allows unauthenticated users to access another user's saved shopping cart by using its identifier. The attacker can view product selections, quantities, and custom field data from the victim's cart.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check the version of the Premium Packages WordPress plugin. If it is below 7.3.1, the system is vulnerable. Inspect network traffic for unauthenticated requests accessing saved-cart identifiers.

Impact Analysis

If you use this plugin, an attacker could steal sensitive information like your product choices, quantities, and custom data entered in your cart. This could lead to privacy breaches or misuse of your personal details. The vulnerability does not require authentication, making it easier for attackers to exploit.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR or HIPAA due to unauthorized access to personal and sensitive data. GDPR requires protecting personal data, and HIPAA mandates safeguarding health-related information. A breach could result in legal penalties or fines.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the Premium Packages plugin to version 7.3.1 or later. If updating is not possible, disable the plugin until the update is applied.
