Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a relative path traversal issue in Oray Pugongying X5 Pro up to version 7.6.1. It affects the config_restore_ex function in the file /etc/openwrt_release. The flaw allows manipulation of the filename argument, enabling attackers to access files outside intended directories. The exploit is publicly available and can be launched remotely.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to read sensitive files on the device, potentially gaining unauthorized access to system configurations or user data. Since the attack is remote, it poses a risk even without physical access to the device. Public availability of the exploit increases the likelihood of attacks.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update Oray Pugongying X5 Pro to the latest version beyond 7.6.1 if available. If no update is available, consider discontinuing use of the device or isolating it from critical network segments. Monitor network traffic for unusual activity related to file path manipulation.
