Path Traversal in Network-AI FileJobStore

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-120311, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Description

Network-AI from 5.13.4 before 5.15.5 contains a path traversal vulnerability in FileJobStore that allows attackers to read or delete arbitrary .json files by supplying traversal sequences in the job id. Attackers controlling the id passed to FileJobStore.get(), FileJobStore.delete(), or JobQueue.getJob() can disclose credentials and grant tokens or delete configuration files to weaken AuthGuardian authorization.

CWE ID Description
CWE-23 The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize sequences such as ".." that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory.

Executive Summary

Network-AI versions 5.13.4 to 5.15.4 have a path traversal flaw in FileJobStore. Attackers can supply malicious job IDs with traversal sequences (e.g., ../../) to read or delete arbitrary .json files outside the intended directory. This exposes sensitive data like credentials or configuration files and weakens authorization systems.

Detection Guidance

Check for suspicious job IDs containing path traversal sequences like ../ or ..\ in Network-AI logs or job management interfaces. Inspect file access patterns in the configured job directory for unexpected .json file reads or deletions outside the intended scope.

Impact Analysis

Attackers can access or delete sensitive files, leading to data breaches, service disruption, or authorization bypasses. If the system stores credentials or tokens in JSON files, these could be exposed, allowing further compromise of the AuthGuardian authorization system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or deletion of sensitive data, violating GDPR's data protection requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Compliance failures may result in legal penalties or reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Network-AI to version 5.15.5 or later immediately. If upgrading is not possible, restrict filesystem permissions for the Network-AI process to limit access to sensitive directories. Review and remove any exposed job management interfaces that accept arbitrary job IDs.
