Description

GoFound through 1.4.1 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to inject scripts by submitting document text to /api/index. Attackers can index malicious HTML that searcher/engine.go returns unescaped and dashboard.vue renders with v-html, executing script in an administrator's browser when an admin search matches the document.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-120443 is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in GoFound versions up to 1.4.1. Attackers can inject malicious scripts by submitting document text to the /api/index endpoint. The searcher/engine.go component returns unescaped HTML, and the dashboard.vue admin interface renders it using v-html, executing scripts in an administrator's browser when a search matches the injected text.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your GoFound instance is running versions 1.1.3 to 1.4.1. Inspect network traffic for requests to /api/index containing HTML or script tags. Review admin dashboard search results for unexpected scripts. Check filesystem paths for unauthorized directory deletions via /api/db/drop.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal session cookies, perform actions as an admin, or take control of the administrator's browser. Since the payload is stored, it persists until the malicious document is removed. The attack requires no authentication under default settings.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating GDPR's data protection principles and HIPAA's security requirements for protected health information. It may result in data breaches, non-compliance penalties, and loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade GoFound to a patched version beyond 1.4.1. Disable unauthenticated /api/index endpoints if possible. Implement input sanitization for document text and escape HTML in admin dashboard outputs. Monitor filesystem access logs for suspicious /api/db/drop requests.
