MongoDB Entity Framework Core Provider Injection Flaw

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-120567, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-11-03

Last updated on: 2026-11-03

Assigner: MongoDB, Inc.

Description

The MongoDB Entity Framework Core provider does not neutralize special elements when it places a caller-supplied value into a bulk update that is expressed as a databasea result, a value supplied as plain data may be interpreted by the database as expression syntax. A part value through normal application input may causeunintended modification of fields in the records the application is updating, and may cause data already held in those records to be relocated into other fields of the same record.

Executive Summary

The MongoDB Entity Framework Core provider fails to neutralize special elements when inserting caller-supplied values into bulk updates. This allows plain data to be interpreted as database expression syntax, potentially causing unintended modifications to record fields or data relocation within the same record.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could manipulate input to alter or move data in records during bulk updates, leading to data corruption, loss of integrity, or unintended exposure of sensitive information stored in affected fields.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate data integrity and confidentiality requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. Unauthorized data modification or relocation risks non-compliance with integrity principles and potential breaches of protected health or personal data.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the MongoDB Entity Framework Core provider to the latest version that addresses this issue. Review application code for bulk update operations to ensure proper input sanitization. Monitor database logs for unusual field modifications or data relocations.
