CWE ID Description
CWE-416 The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a use-after-free issue in the CSS component of Google Chrome versions before 157.0.8103.38. A use-after-free occurs when a program continues to use memory after it has been freed, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution. In this case, a remote attacker could exploit this by crafting a malicious HTML page to execute arbitrary code within the browser's sandbox.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run arbitrary code on your system through a malicious webpage. Since it affects the sandbox, the attacker's code would run with limited privileges, but could still steal data, install malware, or perform other malicious actions depending on the system's configuration.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 157.0.8103.38 or later to address the use after free vulnerability in CSS.
