Description

Mistral Vibe before 3.0.3 contains a remote code execution vulnerability that allows attackers to run commands by abusing repository-configured gpg.program during project context collection. Executive Summary

Mistral Vibe before version 3.0.3 has a remote code execution vulnerability where attackers can run commands by manipulating repository settings. By setting gpg.program to a malicious program and enabling log.showSignature with a signed commit, git log executes the attacker's code when a session starts, before any user prompt.

Detection Guidance

Check Mistral Vibe version with 'mistral-vibe --version'. If version is below 3.0.3, the system is vulnerable. Inspect repository configurations for malicious gpg.program settings or log.showSignature enabled in .git/config or global git config.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could execute arbitrary commands on your system if you use a vulnerable version of Mistral Vibe. This could lead to data theft, system compromise, or further network infiltration. The attack occurs automatically when accessing a crafted repository.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or exfiltration, violating GDPR's data protection principles and HIPAA's security requirements for protected health information. Organizations may face compliance violations and penalties if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Mistral Vibe to version 3.0.3 or later immediately. Review and remove any untrusted repository configurations, especially gpg.program and log.showSignature settings. Audit all git repositories for suspicious configurations.
