Description

AzuraCast before 0.24.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability that allows users with station WebHooks permission to bypass the UserUrlFilter SSRF guard through HTTP redirects. Attackers can configure Mastodon, Telegram, GroupMe, or RadioReg webhooks pointing to a redirecting URL, causing the Guzzle client to reach internal services and expose responses via test logs.

Executive Summary

AzuraCast before version 0.24.0 has a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability where users with station WebHooks permission can bypass the UserUrlFilter protection by using HTTP redirects. Attackers can set up webhooks for services like Mastodon, Telegram, GroupMe, or RadioReg to point to a URL that redirects to internal services. The Guzzle HTTP client follows these redirects without re-validating the target, exposing internal service responses through test logs.

Detection Guidance

Monitor webhook logs for unusual redirect patterns or internal service access attempts. Check AzuraCast logs for connections to localhost (127.0.0.1), AWS metadata endpoints, or other internal IPs. Review webhook configurations for Mastodon, Telegram, GroupMe, or RadioReg pointing to external redirecting URLs.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers with limited permissions to access internal services and potentially expose sensitive data like secrets or internal service responses. It could lead to unauthorized information disclosure or further attacks on internal systems if internal services are misconfigured.

Compliance Impact

This SSRF vulnerability could potentially expose internal services or sensitive data via test logs, which may violate data protection requirements under GDPR (e.g., unauthorized access to personal data) or HIPAA (e.g., exposure of protected health information). Organizations using affected AzuraCast versions must assess whether this risk impacts their compliance posture.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade AzuraCast to version 0.24.0 or later. Disable redirect-following in vulnerable webhook connectors by setting RequestOptions::ALLOW_REDIRECTS to false in Mastodon.php, Telegram.php, GroupMe.php, and RadioReg.php files. Restrict station WebHooks permissions to trusted users only.
