Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a Remote Code Execution flaw in the IModular.exe URI handler used by INFINITT PACS. An attacker can exploit it by sending a specially crafted imodular:// URI that includes malicious command and argument parameters. When processed, this could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system without authentication.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability involves the IModular.exe URI handler in INFINITT PACS. To detect it, monitor network traffic for unusual imodular:// URIs with suspicious command or argument parameters. Check system logs for unexpected execution of IModular.exe with unrecognized arguments. Inspect browser history or proxy logs for external links invoking this handler.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow an attacker to take control of your system remotely, install malware, steal data, or perform other malicious actions. Since it requires no authentication, any user opening a malicious URI could be compromised, potentially leading to system-wide breaches or unauthorized access to sensitive information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and security. Organizations using INFINITT PACS may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Disable the IModular.exe URI handler by removing or restricting its registry associations for the imodular:// protocol. Block external access to the URI handler via network rules. Update or patch the INFINITT PACS software if a fix is available from the vendor.
