CWE ID Description
CWE-190 The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This occurs when an integer value is incremented to a value that is too large to store in the associated representation. When this occurs, the value may become a very small or negative number.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability in IBM MQ versions 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.0.44 LTS, 9.3.0.0 through 9.3.0.42 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.0.26 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.5.1 CD, and 10.0.0.0 through 10.0.0.5 LTS and CD is caused by an integer overflow. A remote authenticated attacker could exploit this to cause a denial of service and perform limited memory corruption.

Impact Analysis

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to disrupt services by causing a denial of service. It may also lead to limited memory corruption, potentially affecting system stability and data integrity.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest IBM MQ patches for your version to address the integer overflow issue. Check IBM's official security bulletins for updates and upgrade to versions beyond the affected ranges (9.2.0.44 LTS, 9.3.0.42 LTS, 9.4.0.26 LTS, 9.4.5.1 CD, or 10.0.0.5 LTS/CD).

Restrict remote authenticated access to MQ systems and monitor for unusual memory usage patterns or service disruptions.
