Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a missing bounds check in MediaTek chipsets that could allow an out of bounds write. This may lead to local privilege escalation if an attacker gains physical access to the device. No additional execution privileges or user interaction are required for exploitation.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with physical access could exploit this to escalate privileges on the device, potentially gaining control over system functions. This could compromise data integrity, confidentiality, or availability on affected MediaTek chipsets.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the patch identified as ALPS11468968 immediately. Since exploitation requires physical access, ensure physical security of affected devices. No additional execution privileges are needed for exploitation, so limiting physical access is critical.
