CWE ID Description
CWE-416 The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

Detection Guidance

The provided CVE data does not include specific detection methods or commands for identifying this vulnerability on a network or system. Detection would typically require analyzing the adsp component for use-after-free conditions or privilege escalation patterns.

Impact Analysis

If you are using a device with a MediaTek chipset affected by this vulnerability, an attacker who already has System privilege could exploit it to gain higher privileges. This could allow them to take control of your device or perform unauthorized actions.

Compliance Impact

The provided CVE data does not specify how this vulnerability impacts compliance with standards like GDPR or HIPAA. The vulnerability involves a use-after-free issue in MediaTek chipsets that could lead to local privilege escalation if an attacker already has System privilege.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the patch provided by MediaTek (Patch ID: ALPS11431474) to address the use-after-free vulnerability in the adsp component. Ensure the System privilege is not granted to untrusted actors to prevent potential exploitation.
