Description

GLPI is a free asset and IT management software package. From 9.4.0 until 10.0.26 and 11.0.8, any authenticated user can submit crafted values to the dropdown values fetching endpoint that are incorporated into a database query. This permits SQL injection through the dropdown endpoint. This issue is fixed in versions 11.0.8 and 10.0.26.

CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an SQL injection flaw in GLPI software versions 9.4.0 through 10.0.25 and 11.0.0 through 11.0.7. Authenticated users can submit crafted input to the dropdown values endpoint, which is then used in a database query without proper sanitization. This allows attackers to manipulate SQL commands and potentially access or modify database contents.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to read, modify, or delete sensitive data in the GLPI database. This includes user credentials, asset information, and other critical IT management data. The high CVSS score (8.7) indicates significant risk of unauthorized access and data breaches.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to violations of GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) by enabling unauthorized access to sensitive personal or health data. Organizations using affected GLPI versions may face compliance failures, regulatory penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade GLPI to version 11.0.8 or 10.0.26 or later to address the SQL injection vulnerability in the dropdown values endpoint.
