Executive Summary

This is a broken access control vulnerability in the VitaFit cloud API before 2026-10-30. It allows any authenticated user to obtain temporary AWS credentials by calling a specific endpoint. These credentials are improperly scoped, enabling unauthorized access to other users' stored files in shared storage buckets.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking if the affected API endpoint POST /front/user/s3/token/ is accessible and improperly granting AWS credentials. Monitor logs for unusual access to this endpoint or AWS credential requests. Check for unauthorized file access or modifications in shared storage buckets.

Impact Analysis

If you use the affected VitaFit cloud API, attackers could access your files or overwrite them using the stolen credentials. This could lead to data theft, corruption, or loss of sensitive information stored in the shared bucket.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate compliance requirements such as GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy) by enabling unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data. Organizations may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust due to non-compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update VitaFit cloud API to version 2026-10-30 or later to patch the broken access control. Disable the POST /front/user/s3/token/ endpoint if not required. Review and revoke any improperly scoped AWS credentials issued due to this vulnerability. Audit shared storage buckets for unauthorized access or modifications.
