Description

SuiteCRM is an open-source, enterprise-ready Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software application. Prior to 7.15.2 and 8.10.2, the Upgrade Wizard commit flow trusts the hidden zip_to_dir parameter, while clean_path() does not reject traversal sequences. An authenticated administrator can copy extracted package files outside the intended destination, overwrite application or configuration files, place executable PHP under the web root, or cause denial of service. This issue is fixed in versions 7.15.2 and 8.10.2.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-63213 is a path traversal vulnerability in SuiteCRM affecting versions before 7.15.2 and 8.10.2. The Upgrade Wizard's commit flow trusts the hidden zip_to_dir parameter, which is only sanitized by clean_path(). This function fails to block directory traversal sequences like ../, allowing an authenticated administrator to write files outside the intended destination. This could overwrite application files, place executable PHP in web directories, or cause denial of service.

Detection Guidance

Check SuiteCRM versions with: grep -r "version" config.php. If running 7.15.1 or earlier or 8.10.1 or earlier, the system is vulnerable. Inspect Upgrade Wizard logs for unusual file paths or external directory writes.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with admin access could overwrite critical files, execute malicious PHP code remotely, or disrupt services by corrupting files. This may lead to data breaches, unauthorized access, or system unavailability.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade SuiteCRM to version 7.15.2 or 8.10.2 immediately. Restrict administrator access to trusted users only. Monitor file system changes in web root directories like custom/ for unexpected PHP files.
