Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects the Eupago Gateway For Woocommerce WordPress plugin versions 4.5.0 through 4.7.5. It allows unauthenticated attackers to forge payment confirmations without making an actual payment. The plugin fails to verify the authenticity of incoming payment-confirmation webhook requests in certain configurations, enabling attackers to mark pending orders as paid fraudulently.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability can lead to financial losses as attackers may trick the system into marking orders as paid without actual payment. Merchants using the vulnerable plugin versions could ship products without receiving payment, resulting in direct financial harm. It also undermines trust in the payment process and may require manual verification of orders.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the Eupago Gateway For Woocommerce plugin to the latest version if available. If no update exists, consider disabling the plugin until a patch is released. Monitor incoming payment-confirmation webhook requests for suspicious activity and implement additional authentication checks for webhook endpoints.
