CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-58046 is a blind SQL injection flaw in Plesk's XML-RPC API. A remote authenticated low-privileged user with customer or reseller access can exploit this to inject malicious SQL queries. This allows reading arbitrary data from the Plesk database, including sensitive information like admin credentials, potentially leading to full server compromise.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal sensitive data such as administrator credentials, access confidential information, or take full control of the Plesk server. This could result in unauthorized access to hosted websites, data breaches, or disruption of services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access and exposure of personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements. Organizations may face legal penalties, fines, and reputational damage due to non-compliance resulting from a data breach.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade to Plesk version 18.0.79.4 or later to fully resolve the vulnerability. If immediate upgrading is not possible, enable strict API protocol version validation in the panel.ini file for Plesk Obsidian 18.x or restrict XML API access to trusted IP addresses for Plesk Onyx 17.x and older versions.
