Executive Summary

CVE-2026-103247 is a credential tampering vulnerability in n8n versions before 1.123.80. It allows attackers with editor access to shared workflows to exploit duplicate node IDs to bypass credential tamper guards. By mismatching node IDs and names, attackers can retain victim credentials and redirect secrets to attacker-controlled hosts.

Impact Analysis

If you use n8n versions before 1.123.80, attackers with editor access to shared workflows could steal your credentials or redirect sensitive data to unauthorized hosts. This could lead to data breaches, unauthorized access to systems, or further exploitation of connected services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and confidentiality. Organizations may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies
  • Update n8n to version 1.123.80 or later to patch the vulnerability.
  • Restrict access to workflow editors to trusted users only.
  • Audit shared workflows for nodes with duplicate IDs or unexpected credential references.
  • Review nodes in workflows to ensure no credentials are retained by unauthorized nodes.
